Librarian Position at Namal University

Namal University is seeking a qualified Librarian to provide strategic and operational leadership for the University Library and its services. This role is essential for managing library resources and ensuring compliance with academic standards.

Location

The position is based in Mianwali, Punjab, Pakistan.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the University Library and its services.
  • Develop and implement library policies, procedures, systems, and services aligned with University requirements.
  • Manage library resources, including books, journals, digital databases, e-resources, and scholarly materials.
  • Oversee acquisition, cataloguing, classification, circulation, preservation, and maintenance of library resources.
  • Facilitate access to digital libraries, research databases, and academic information resources for students, faculty, and researchers.
  • Provide and promote information, research support, orientation, and training services to the University community.
  • Develop and maintain the library collection in accordance with academic programs, research priorities, and institutional needs.
  • Supervise library staff, allocate responsibilities, evaluate performance, and ensure effective utilization of library facilities and resources.
  • Ensure compliance with HEC requirements, University policies, and applicable library standards.
  • Lead modernization, automation, digitization, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • PhD from an HEC-recognized University or MS/MPhil in Library Science.

Experience

  • 8 years of experience for PhD holders or 10 years for MS/MPhil holders.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of library management, cataloguing, classification, digital library systems, and information resources.
  • Proficiency in library operations, resource planning, records management, and use of Library Management/ERP systems.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, customer service, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage library resources, implement policies and procedures, and adapt to technological developments.
