Job Description
The Associate Editor will work closely with the Editor to ensure the smooth and timely publication of the Journal of Independent Study and Research (JISR). Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and maintaining the JISR office, ensuring effective coordination and communication among all stakeholders.
- Proofreading and editing submitted manuscripts/articles for language, style, structure, and overall academic quality.
- Facilitating the blind peer-review process by coordinating with reviewers and the Editor.
- Communicating with authors regarding reviewers’ comments, required revisions, and editorial decisions.
- Assessing whether reviewer concerns have been adequately addressed and performing final editorial checks prior to approval.
- Liaising among authors, reviewers, the Editor, and the publisher throughout all stages of the publication process.
- Determining publication sequence and priority for accepted manuscripts in coordination with the Editor and publisher.
- Evaluating all submitted materials objectively, ensuring adherence to ethical standards.
- Preparing quarterly progress and status reports of the Journal for periodic review meetings.
- Compiling, maintaining, and backing up complete records of submissions, reviewer feedback, correspondence, and publication details.
- Exploring and recommending electronic publishing platforms and innovative dissemination methods.
- Proofreading and editing other publishing content as required by SZABIST management.
